Cleaning a typical diaphragm airless sprayer: Example used is a Atomex GM-60E Diaphragm Airless Sprayer.

Cleanliness is extremely important when finishing the days work with your airless sprayer. If an airless sprayer is not cleaned correctly you will increase the chance of having problems the next time you want to spray.

1) Clean the sprayer at the end of each day's usage

2) Shut off the airless sprayer

3) Relieve the pressure in the airless sprayer by opening the prime valve.

4) Set the trigger safety lock on the airless sprayer hand gun to the lock position.

5) Remove the airless spray tip and soak in solvent or water, use which ever product the paint manufacturer has recommended.

6) Place sump hose in a container of solvent. With water-based paints, use water. With oil paint, use solvent recommended by the paint manufacturer.

7) Place the prime hose in a second container.

8) Turn on the sprayer and increase the pressure by turning pressure control knob clock-wise until solvent or water flows from the prime hose. Continue for 3-4 minutes or until the solvent water is clear. Then close the prime valve.

9) Trigger the airless spray gun into the paint can until solvent/water appears

10) Trigger the airless spray gun into the container of solvent. Continue for 3-4 minutes or until the solvent/water is clear.

11) IMPORTANT - Hold the airless spray gun firmly against the metal container to prevent static spark.

12) You may speed up the cleanup process by increasing the pressure. Hold the nozzle of the airless spray gun under the water/solvent to avoid splashing.

13) Make the final flush with water and ATOMEX Pump Saver.

14) Shut off the airless sprayer. Trigger the gun to relieve pressure. Set the safety lock on the airless spray gun. Unplug the airless sprayer.

15) For change of colours, follow steps 2-12.

16) If using water-based paint, flush thoroughly with water and make final flush with ATOMEX Pump Saver.

17) If using oil base paint, flush thoroughly with appropriate solvent, flush the solvent with water to remove the solvent and use ATOMEX Pump Saver for storage.

18) Do leave turpentine in the machine when in storage as this may leave gum deposits throughout the pump. Also we do not recommend the use of petrol for cleaning or storage.

Be sure to read the manufacturers instruction manual and follow the procedures set out by the manufacturer of the airless sprayer equipment before operating, spraying or cleaning your airless sprayer.
